Soccer in Philadelphia is heating up!A city-wide soccer tournament that uses the universal language of sport to bring people together and showcase Philadelphia’s rich cultural diversity. It’s that time of year where the groups will be selected for the citywide Unity Cup soccer tournament. Mayor Jim Kenney will join Philadelphia Parks &amp; Recreation and Philadelphia Soccer 2026 to unveil the 2023 Unity Cup jersey, and draw teams for the 7th Annual Philadelphia International Unity Cup. The&nbsp;Philadelphia International Unity Cup&nbsp;is a&nbsp;World Cup-style tournament held over several months that unites the city’s neighborhoods and celebrates its diverse immigrant communities through soccer. The brainchild of Mayor Jim Kenney, the Unity Cup became an annual tradition after its massively successful inaugural year in 2016. Last year’s victor Team USA defeated Team Liberia at Lincoln Financial Field in October 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp; Philadelphia International Unity Cup is a World Cup-style tournament held over several months that unites the city’s neighborhoods and celebrates its diverse immigrant communities through soccer. Founded in 2016, the Unity Cup is an annual tradition amongst Philadelphia soccer fans and the City’s diverse immigrant communities. The 2022 6th Annual Philadelphia International Unity Cup was even more successful than years before, and puts Philadelphia firmly on the map as a Global Welcoming City.

On the heels of The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™, women in Philadelphia will soon too be able to hit the soccer pitch and represent their country.8 teams will participate in the first-ever Philadelphia International Unity Cup Women’s Tournament. A draw announcing the two groups of four will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31st at Penn Treaty Park, and will be broadcast live on&nbsp;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/phlunitycup/?hl=en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(54, 177, 240); background-color: transparent;">The Unity Cup Instagram page</a>.The Citywide Women’s Tournament will take place on Saturday September 9th, September 16th, September 23rd, and September 30th. The Championship date will soon be announced and will be played at the same time as the Men’s Tournament Final.

After a thrilling 2023 season, which saw the introduction of the the first ever Women’s Unity Cup Tournament, the championship date has been set!Tickets are free, but must be reserved ahead of time.On Sunday October 15th, 2023, at The Novacare Complex, Team USA will face Team Mexico for the Women’s Championship, followed by Team Liberia vs. Team Ireland for the Men’s Championship.The Women’s Championship match will start at 1:30 p.m.The Men’s Championship match will start at 3:00 p.m.
